Now how can we spend some money?

Well at any other time, I’d welcome the news that city authorities in Europe will be given more money to support energy efficiency, as EU Energy Commissioner Günter Oetinger has announced today.

But when the eurozone is crumbling and rioting in Greece over the economic crisis is leading to death, is this really the right time to be spending “at least” €115m?

And wait until you hear where this money is coming from.

It’s only the unspent (so far) cash from the European economic recovery fund!

It seems to me Mr Oetinger is fiddling while Athens burns.
